About the Opportunity:
ZipStaff is hiring a Sr. Java Developer for our client, a global IT services and consulting organization, to design and enhance cloud-native applications using Java and AWS. You will build scalable microservices and serverless workflows with AWS Lambda, working with cross-functional and DevOps teams in an Agile environment. This is an approximately 5-month, fully remote contract role.
What You'll Do:
  • Design, develop and maintain microservices-based applications primarily using Java.
  • Implement serverless functions and workflows using AWS Lambda and related AWS services.
  • Participate in the full SDLC, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing and deployment.
  • Write clean, efficient and well-documented code that follows coding standards.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipeline integration and deployment.
  • Troubleshoot, debug and resolve production issues promptly.
  • Engage in peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and provide technical guidance.
  • Improve system reliability, scalability and maintainability through refactoring.
Required Qualifications:
  • Senior-level professional experience developing applications in Java.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and serverless architecture.
  • Proven experience designing and building microservices.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Agile delivery.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging and code review skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Must be based in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Spring Boot and REST APIs.
  • Experience with other AWS services such as API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SQS/SNS and Step Functions.
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience (CloudFormation, CDK or Terraform).
  • AWS certification.
